In a genuine half-timbered Alsatian house adorned with geraniums, enjoy a restaurant which have retained its charm : prints signed by Hansi, old copper items, exposed wooden beam ceilings and pieces of pottery from Soufflenheim... make up a purely Alsatian scenery while offering a refined atmosphere.

As soon as the weather is fine, make yourself comfortable on the terrasse, in our garden at the edge of the woods ; the singing of the river is with you for each moment you'll spend here.

The restaurant is accessible to the people with reduced mobility.

A varied and delicious seasonal cuisine

Dish

The Chef Christian Boulard and his team invite you to taste a seasonal cuisine prepared from fresh products. Awarded of the "Titre de Maître Restaurateur" since 2013, the Chef favours homemade dishes, the certainty of a fully guaranted freshness and of incomparable flavors, Menus and "A la carte" items change regularly throughout the year, according to the seasons.

Enjoy some fine standards of the Alsatian cuisine such as the sauerkraut from Krautergersheim and dishes highlighting local flavours : salmon in pastry with Alsace horseradish, homemade duck fattened liver, filets of red mullet with Alsace saffron, a beef rib with Pinot Noir etc.

Varied and creative, our menus will treat the food lovers' taste buds.Since May 2017, the vegetarians will have their own menu with choice, and the children will find an offer favoring the "home-made".

An exceptional wine list

As a true lover of vine and wine, Christian Boulard offers a wine list rich in some 1,800 references from Alsace, from France and from the 5 continents. In the year 2017, we shall propose a reduced wine list, more easily available for consultation by our customers, with bottles selected carefully, by maintaining reasonable price rates.

In 2007, it won the « Grand Prix de la Presse du Vin» in the Senate rewarding the nicest and largest wine menu in France, distinction awarded by the “APV” (Association de la Presse du Vin), the Wine Writers Association, which gathers almost 300 journalists. From 2008 to 2010, our wine menu received a Wine Spectator Award, and from 2011 to 2016, it received a Wine Spectator Best Award.

As a "Logis de France Bacchus" and thanks to our acquaintances in the vineyards, we can organise for you a tasting session or visit of a wine cellar at a winegrower's, and we can give you guidebooks and documents about the Alsace Wine Route.

We can also organise meals with particular attention paid to food and wine pairings (animated or not by a professional).

Meals for groups

The Château d'Andlau can organise your group meals and other receptions up to 70 people (family, relatives, friends, collegues). Next to Barr, surrounded by an unspoiled nature, we welcome your reunion banquets with family, association, school classmates, collegues and we can organise food and wine pairings (animated or not by a professional).

Wine Discovery

Meals with food and wine pairings

Do you feel like wine-loving discoveries during a gourmet meal?

We are giving you the opportunity to enjoy great viticultural regions and terroirs of France and Europe during meals with food and wine pairings.

All year long, we propose several theme evenings from October to April with a minimum of 10 participants. We kindly ask you to pay when you book, by cheque, bank transfer or credit card.

The indicated price is for one person and includes the meal, the wines, 50 cl of water and a cup of coffee.

Sessions of Tasting

The Wine tasting Club "AOC" (Alsace Oenophile Club) gathers one Monday evening a month at 8 pm and wants to imply all those who take a real interest in wine : amateurs, wine growers or professionals.

Open Barr

Open Barr is a day trip to discover the vine and the wine, through a playful and sensory approach. An unusual program, a walk on the Grand Cru Kirchberg in Barr with "a nature guide", a picnic lunch in the gardens of the Folie Marco, and then, a bit of History, wine tasting initiations, the visit of a winery... Upcoming dates.

Labels and distinctions

  • The wine list was rewarded in 2007 by the Prize of the nicest and largest wine menu in France.
  • It was classified Best Award in 2016 by the American magazine "Wine Spectator".
  • It is a "Logis Bacchus" and a "Maître Restaurateur" since 2013 : this title is awarded by the Prefecture after an audit to the restaurants which realise a cooking under the direct responsability of the restaurant owner or his chef. This genuine cooking doesn't use any outside preparation. "Maître Restaurateur" is a title to reward the excellence of the best professionals in the traditional cooking by valuing their skills as well as their commitments for the quality of the service and the home- making. This title is to value the know-how and the good practice : origins and transformation of the used products, with authentic home-made dishes ; it is a commitment to respect a set of simple rules garanteeing a quality service offer (reception, table service and decoration), and to respect the norms of hygiene and safety. The title of "Maître Restaurateur" is the result of a team work.

Home-delivery Service

We propose a home-delivery service for 8 people at least and within a 10 km radius of our restaurant. Apéritif, cocktail dinner, picnic in the countryside, group meals … : let us know about your wishes and needs. We will be delighted to offer appropriate solutions .
